Travel2Gather is now in beta

Travel2Gather — our app for groups planning and traveling together — has reached beta.

The premise is simple: planning a trip with friends or family shouldn’t mean juggling five group chats, a shared note, and a spreadsheet for expenses. Travel2Gather puts itineraries, activities, expenses, real-time chat, and shared photos into one place that everyone on the trip can use.

What’s in the beta

  • Trips & invites — create a trip, share an invite code, and see who’s joined.
  • Activities — add things to do with dates, times, and locations; view everything on a calendar timeline.
  • Expenses — track group spending with category support and split-between-explorers.
  • Chat — per-trip discussion threads so planning stays in one place.
  • Notifications — get pinged when teammates add activities, expenses, or messages.
  • Dark mode — automatic, follows your system.

Shopping lists, todos, photo albums, flight info, and carpool coordination are scaffolded in the app and will roll in over the course of the beta.

How it’s built

  • Client: Expo / React Native (iOS, Android, web from one codebase), TypeScript, Zustand for state.
  • Backend: Django on Google Cloud Run, Firestore via the Firebase Admin SDK.
  • Auth: Firebase Auth — email, Google, and Apple sign-in.
  • Edge: Cloudflare for CDN and image delivery.
